Nov. 13th: Progress Update

I wanted to put out a brief update since it's been a week or so since the last post. Work is underway on the assets for the next build, and the actual list of additions is being finalized in the process. I did some initial rough sketches before starting work so I decided to attach them to give a little idea of what's coming.

The actual prototype HUD is mostly done, I just need to make a few labels, some alternate color palettes, and then implement it into the game. After that I will be spending most of the work time on new enemy art and animations, as well as effects for the new spells and enemy attacks. There will also be a protoype enemy HUD, though I expect that will change a lot as the game progresses as I am much more indecisive about how it will look.  Finally will come all the updates to the interactive scene, which will include the short animated intro that I've made a rough sketch of here.

Overall I'm very excited to get this build together so I can start fleshing out the skeleton I've already built.

Loose Roadmap

Next Build: Enhanced Combat Demo (1-2 Weeks away)

This build will flesh out the core of the game, introducing some of the secondary combat mechanics of the game as well as new enemies and a proper wave spawning system to better emulate the actual intended design of the final product. Prototype HUDs will be implemented for the player and enemies, and the interactive scene will feature new animation options and an animated intro.  New spells will be implemented along with the "SHIFT" system to let you switch between different sets of spells. Current visuals will be touched up and further refinements will be made to physics and collision.

After That: Revision Builds

A series of revision builds will follow focusing on fixing issues and responding to feedback from the prior build, as well as implementing the first menus into the game to allow you to customize your character. More secondary mechanics will be implemented at this point, as well as the collection gallery.

Next Major Build: First Level Demo

This build will feature a prototype of the beginning of the game, as well as the introduction of cutscenes and the basics of the story. This is when the builds will really start to resemble the final build of the game as I begin to put together levels and reveal the narrative. This build will feature the prior demo as a separate option on the title screen so you can still play around with the full suite of implemented spells and mechanics.

Thank you to everyone who is following and supporting this project! The feedback has helped improve this build significantly, so please don't be afraid to leave a comment. If you like where this is going and would like to see it continue development, please consider leaving a small donation! Every bit helps!
